A Sketch for Renny

Fashion Avenue

The last dossier of my 8 mth long course... titled Fashion Avenue.
keys: evita the actress, new york, street, 1940's dresses, casual, anne hathaway, sophisticated
We had to do more than design, in short: come up with our own fashion line, brand, packaging, etc, etc, etc...

The mood

Fashion Forward

The last FD project before our final involves of designing 6 pairs of suits with references to the trends of the past, present and future. This is the first project where I made use of the skills taught in CAD FD class.
Enough of introductions, here goes nothing...

Mood Picture

Design Past: Chanel inspired 1960's suit

Design Present: Armani-esque Girlie Suits

Design Future: Not too Trekkie aren't they?

Fashion = Art?

Product development was the name of the game. We had to choose a designer's Spring or Fall collection that has a minimum of 40 outfits, draw technical drawings corresponding to the outfits that shown on the runway during fashion week, form a collection plan and present about it. I chose Donna Karan's Spring/ Summer 2006, she had 44 outfits total, mostly dresses, so it was not too bad.
Here's my own rendition of her mood picture:

And here are some of the technical drawings that i did, with their respective outfit (photos from style.com):

Pants Project P2

The resulting mood pictureS (yes, there were 5 of them), and the designs.

Mis(kitsch), exaggerated of course, first time coloring with acrylic for me

Cheeky preppy, checks and prep style pants, in a girlie color

The GlobeTrekker, inspired by my adventurous friends

Lady Goth, the figurine was created by collage of fabrics and materials

Somehow, I could not upload the mood picture for Princess Army, will try again later, but here's the design

Remember the pics from the previous blog? I used Photoshop to retouch the colors and create the above mood pictures =)

Yoeng's Streetcam (Pants Project P1)

Disclaimer: Pictures overload

The next project was something that scared the hell out of me, .. initially. We had to go round town to get 50 shots of street fashion, categorize them into 5 different styles and incorporate them as press research in our mood picture. I was rejected a couple of times, but finally managed to exceed the targeted minimum. Here are some of the pics that I think are most post worthy, (pre-touched), in random order:

Food Court, Pondok Indah Mal

MAC Counter, Pondok Indah Mal

Bazaar, Cilandak Town Square

ESMOD Senior, FD Classroom

EX, Plaza Indonesia

Sushi Tei, Pondok Indah Mal

Barbie, I didn't take the picture, it's here to show what it looks like before I "re-color" it

Mega, Fellow ESMOD Student

Aksara Bookstore, Cilandak Town Square

Zara, Plaza Indonesia

Plaza Indonesia

Missing!

I'm missing the 3rd project which is a project involving designing 2 dresses for 2 different people (I chose Missy Elliot and Devon Aoki) with patterns. I think it's still lying on my teacher's desk, and maybe if I drop by school I'll try to retrieve it and post it sometime later.

Viva Victoria

Cheesy title I know, but I couldn't think of a better one. It's my 2nd project, still within the theme of Street Victorian, with Queen Victoria as the muse:

The project was to design 2 shirts, and to develop 2 more based on the first two. Better attempts than the first project.
Fabric and supplies page!

Mao collar, capped sleeves shirt with lace on the shoulders and tuck details

Developed from the previous shirt, Mao collar puffed sleeves shirtdress with lace details and sequins on one side and gold ribbon belt

Round necked, puffed sleeves shirt with lace and ribbon details

Off-shoulder sequins detailed tulle shirt developed from the previous shirt design
